August is a good month for joining the Heritage Walks. Ofcourse it could be hot and humid but who knows you may have a cool and cloudy day!

PUNE HERITAGE WALKS:

Join a tour and relive the journey of ordinary people who became freedom fighters, and 150 years of India’s struggle for independence. The tour covers major sites; including Pune University, Gokhale Institute, Fergusson College, Kesari Wada, Phadke Memorial, Phule Wada, Aga Khan Palace, Savarkar Memorial, and Yerwada Jail.
The tour starts at Pune University, main building, at 7.30am on Saturday 16th August 2014.
Price: Rs 400 per person.
Ticket price includes:
– A guided experience in English and Marathi
– Brochure with map and information
– Entrance fee (Foreigners pay extra Rs 100/- at Aga Khan Palace)
– Special screenings (in English) at selected sites
CHENNAI HERITAGE WALKS:
The following are the walks scheduled for Madras Week. The walks are being held in collaboration with Madras Musings.
August 16th, Saturday – Looking back at Lloyds Road – walk led by Mohan V Raman and Sriram V- 6.00 to 8.30 am
August 17th Sunday – Coursing down College Road – walk led by Sriram V – 6.00 to 8.30 am
August 23rd –The Gujaratis of Sowcarpet – walk led by Karthik Bhatt – 6.00 to 8.30 am
August 24th – Touring around Triplicane – walk led by Sriram V – 6.00 to 8.30 am
All walks end with breakfast. The walks are priced at Rs 500 per head and you need to register at firstname.lastname@example.org.
