Flight from Iceland to Greenland was quite different from the other flights that I have taken in my life. Reykjavik has two airports, the Keflavík International Airport (KEF) and Reykjavik Domestic Airport (RKV). Air Iceland (Icelandic: Flugfélag Íslands) is a subsidiary of Icelandair Group. It operates scheduled services to domestic destinations and to Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Its main bases are Reykjavík and Akureyri Airports. What is now the domestic airport is in the heart of the city. It was set up during the Second World War by the USA.
I took the Iceland Air flight from the domestic airport. There was no hustle bustle at the airport and there were not many passengers around though it was June, which is the peak tourist season. I am very afraid of air travel. The aircraft was small and I some how did not like seeing the blades of the plane as these looked to be very, how should I say, vulnerable, as one is used to seeing different kinds of airplanes on international routes.
We took off and till we reached the next airport we had the privilege of seeing the most fantastic scenery in the world. It all looked surreal- mountains of snow, snow rivers and sea full of icebergs. Practically every one in the plane was taking turns to be near the windows to click photos. I wish I had a better camera but still the photos that I took were good.

Kangerlussuaq is a settlement in the central-western Greenland. Alongside Narsarsuaq Airport, it is one of only two civilian airports in Greenland big enough to handle large airliners. An airport was first built here by the US military in 1941.
It is located away from the coast, and hence less prone to fog and wind in comparison with other airports in Greenland. It is the international hub for Air Greenland. The Kangerlussuaq area has very few inhabitants, around 500, so few passengers have their origin or destination here. Most passengers change plane. The flight from Reykjavik to
Kangerlussuaq took around two hours.
The airport is really very small. Here after an hour or so we took the connecting Air Greenland flight to Ilullisat.

These are short take off and landing aircrafts and need very small airstrip. It was my first experience in such a flight.
It took around 45 minutes to fly from Kangerlussuaq to Ilullisat.
On reaching Ilullisat, the lovely scenery made me forget all the tiredness of the journey.
